Rental equipment is available if you don’t want to bring your own. For quality of instruction, we limit our trips to 3 people per guide, but group trips with multiple guides or special group outings can be arranged. Half Day Guided Wade Trips
We offer half day trips in the Taos area in the mornings (usually from 9am to 1pm) or the afternoon (1pm until dark), or at any time in between worked around your schedule. This trip is identical to the full day trip except there is no lunch. Price- $175 for 1, 200 for 2, $225 for 3 people. A half day is 3-4 hours of fishing/instruction time.
Private Water Options
The overwhelming majority of water in Taos is on public land, but there are a few gems on private property that allow for a guaranteed private experience and better fishing opportunities. These private waters require an additional fee of $75 per person for fishing and require a Los Rios Anglers guide as well. For great meadow stream action, please see the Local Water section and the Brazos River. For very easy access and beautiful scenery for pond fishing, look up Los Ojitos in the Local Waters section. |

John Rainey-- owner, Los Rios Anglers IGFA certified Fly Fishing World Record holder, John Rainey has been guiding professionally for 17 years. He has been the Chief Guide or Director of Fishing Instruction for 5 different organizations, and has broken Fly Fishing World Records for Pacific Spearfish, Pacific Big Eye Tuna, and catch & release records for Pacific Sailfish and Speckled Sea Trout. His fly tying has been featured in Fly Tyer magazine and he continues to work on innovative new patterns.
Rainey’s direction over the guiding program staff instills the philosophy of education, "guiding is instruction; guides are not there to fish for themselves or to show off their ability, but to help clients-- from total beginners to experienced anglers-- to achieve whatever their goal for the day may be." Los Rios Anglers customizes each guided trip to meet the individual or group’s needs, whether on ponds, small streams, or the mighty Rio Grande to facilitate a safe, enjoyable, day of fly fishing.
